A complaint I often hear from people who have been a long-term member of a gym is how they often see their gym promoting special offers to entice people to join with a deal which is far superior than what they were ever offered. They think I am a loyal member, what about me?
Very true and all too common. Once a gym signs up a member, they are then often forgotten about. They go straight to sweet talking the next person with an offer too good to refuse and forget the people who has been a member for years on end.
Think about this common marketing stat, it costs around five to seven times more to acquire a new member than retain an existing one. Plus your loyal members are the greatest source of leads you have at your disposal.
When a person is considering joining a gym, the first thing they will usually do is ask their friend’s opinion on which gym they should join and are they happy with the gym they train at. Word of mouth is one of the most powerful forms of marketing around and you don’t even have to pay for it – just make sure you show your members the love and attention they deserve.
Every single gym should have a fantastic referral program and if not, put one in fast and make sure all your members know of it. The more members they refer, the greater the reward.
And your members are a rich source of testimonials and success stories which is something every gym should be using.
So the question is, are you giving your members the love and respect they deserve?
